Chutes and Flumes

Power House Construction

Available Images: Full Size
Accession Number: AII13
Category: Lumbering; Chutes / Flumes
Description: The construction of the power dam interrupted the flow of the Seguin River. In order to float their sawlogs from where they were cut inland to the mills, flumes were built to carry the logs from the higher to the lower levels. The logs would pass over the dams undamaged.
