Chutes and Flumes

View of Power House Dam

Available Images: Full Size
Accession Number: AII57
Category: Lumbering; Chutes / Flumes
Description: The CPR rail yards are below the two men. The log flume can be seen in the river. A boom, a chain of logs that creates a fence in the water, above the dam, funnels the sawlogs into the flume. The flume, filled with water that travels along its length, carries the logs to lower water, and on to the mills.
