| Description: | The town across the harbour from Parry Sound was nicknamed "Parry Hoot." No establishment in Parry Sound was allowed to sell or produce alcohol due to the "Beatty Covenant." Parry Harbour was not covered by this, and therefore was the place where lumbermen, after spending ten or eleven months in the bush, would come to spend their time off. Logging has left the land treeless. |
