The Sorting Jack

Available Images: Full Size
Accession Number: JBM6
Category: Lumbering; The River Drive
Description: River drivers sorted logs in the sorting jack. Sawlogs would float into the jack, and the men would gather each mill's logs to ensure the mill would receive only its logs. Once a certain number of the mill's logs were gathered, they would be released and sent to that particular mill.
