Tree Cutting

Available Images: Full Size
Accession Number: JBM102
Category: Lumbering; Tools / Equipment
Description: An axeman chops at the trunk of the tree. He would start cutting on the side where the tree was heavier and therefore more likely to fall. He would cut a certain amount out of that side, move to the other side and chop there. The tree would be cut until it was too weak to stand, at which time it would fall, hopefully to the side the axeman had predicted.
