| Description: |
Originally, men would roll logs up two smooth poles to pile sawlogs. The "decking line," seen here, was an advancement in this process. A chain was attached at one end to a log, and at the other end to the horses. A pulley at the centre of the chain allowed the log to roll up the pile. Men would stand beside the pile to make sure the log rolled up squarely, and the "toploader" piled the logs as they reached the top of the pile. |
