| Description: |
The "Metamora" was built in 1864 and used on the Great Lakes. For about five years it served as a gunboat, fitted with armour and cannons. In the early 1870's it was reverted to a passenger ship, and ferried people around Georgian Bay. It burned and sank off Byng Inlet on July 30, 1907. It is now a popular scuba diving site. |
